CRS Rice Bowl

“I was hungry, and you fed me.” - Matthew 25:35

The Lenten practices of fasting, prayer, and almsgiving are beautifully interwoven within the Operation Rice Bowl opportunity. We fast from a portion of food and use the money we would have spent to help those in most need. But the most underutilized part of the practice is the prayer component in which we learn and offer up our prayers in solidary with those who need our prayers as we need them. 75% of the funds collected go to fight worldwide poverty and the remaining 25% stay within our diocese to combat hunger and make systemic change. Please make this Lent the year you fully enter into the spirituality with the Rice Bowl.

Cathedral Prayer Pals

Families are invited to look at the Lenten Table outside the Grand Hall to find many take-home Lenten Opportunities available.

Children can “adopt” a Cathedral Prayer Pal this Lenten Season. We encourage children to grow in their faith with their new pal. Some ideas are watching FORMED Programs together, reading the Children’s Bible together, participating in service projects, and simply just praying daily with your pal.

Feel free to document your journey and send Mrs. Stanforth pictures that she will share on social media. Please e-mail them to: davsacredheartdre@diodav.org.

Reading or Rosary

We invite all teens and adults to join our “Reading or Rosary" Challenge” during Lent.

The challenge is to take one minute a day to read one page of one book from Gus Lloyds Minute in the Church Series to deepen your understanding of the Catholic Church or take the time to pray one decade of the Holy Rosary during the day. There is no signing up or reporting. Books and Rosaries can be picked up on the Lenten Table outside the Grand Hall during the Season of Lent.

All it takes is 1 minute. Which challenge will you accept?

Lenten Tree

Stop by our Lenten Tree in the gathering space.  Take something off the tree which will help you grow in your faith this Lenten Season.  Items on the tags are a variety of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.  Tags with purple yarn are geared towards children & teenagers.  Tags with white yarn are geared towards teens & adults.
