Cathedral Kids Camp ‘26!
Cathedral Kids Camp at Sacred Heart Cathedral Davenport, Iowa June 2026
THANK YOU to the many parish members that made this year's Cathedral's Kids Camp a success! We had 47 youth participants, 12 high school volunteers, and many adults helping. All the donations (craft supplies, food for meals, poster boards, tablecloths, gems, etc.) and monetary donations were greatly appreciated.
Every evening started with a simple meal prepared by Chef Cluff and served by volunteers! Students were dismissed in groups as they traveled to a different pilgrimage location each day. They listened to guest speakers who shared about their pilgrimages they took, participated in a craft, played games outside, and learned a song, "We are Marching" that had verses in English and Vietnamese! The following is where we all "traveled":
Monday - The Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James) in Northwestern Spain
Tuesday - The Four Holy Doors (St. Peter's Basilica - Vatican City, Archbiscilica of St. John Lateran, Basilica of St. Mary Major, and Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls) in Rome, Italy
Wednesday - The Holy Land; a region in the Middle East located on the eastern shores of the Mediterranean Sea. The place of Jesus' birth, ministry, death, and resurrection.
Thursday - The Massabielle Grotto, the most visited Catholic Shrine in the World located in Lourdes, France.
Saturday evening the "pilgrims" and their families joined us for 4:00 PM Mass and then sang their song after! Everyone then gathered in the Grand Hall for a delicious Nacho Dinner while enjoying a Slideshow from the week. Crafts and boards were also on display for everyone to see what we learned throughout the week. Students received in their craft bags local(ish) sites they could take a pilgrimage to with their families. We are looking forward to hearing about their adventures they take with their families.
