YOUTH FORMATION

Children’s Liturgy of the Word
Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. Mass. This ministry is open to all Preschool-2nd Grade Children, during the 9 am Mass (September-May). Children are called forward after the Opening Prayer to the front of Church where they then process out to the Chapel.  Students listen to the weekend readings and then participate in a craft. Family Faith Formation
New this year is an exciting new Youth Faith Formation Program which will be meeting twice a month on Wednesday evenings. This will include Sacramental Classes for those preparing for First Reconciliation & First Holy Communion and Confirmation.

Our Youth Faith Formation Program is required for all Kindergarten thru High School Public School and Homeschooled Families. The required Sacramental Classes for First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation for ALL Students (Public, Private, Homeschooled) are included. Catholic School Students in other grades are also strongly encouraged to attend these Classes.

Middle School Youth Ministry
6th - 12th Grade Youth are invited once a month to come to the Cathedral for a Spiritual, Service, or Social Event. All public school, homeschool, and Catholic school youth are invited to attend and welcomed to bring friends. For more information, please contact Susan Stanforth.

Sunday, March 24: Iowa Catholic Youth Conference in Iowa City. More information coming soon!

Monday, March 25: 6:00-7:30 PM; Stuffing Easter Egg Service Event. Parents are invited to stay and help as well. We will be gathering in the basement.

Saturday, March 30: SHC Easter Egg Hunt. This is a Service Opportunity for 6th-12th grade youth, however you need to RSVP in advance to help!

Friday, April 5 - Sunday, April 7: CORE Retreat for Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Teens. More information coming soon!

May TBA:

June TBA: Cathedral Kids Camp Youth Ministry Track for Incoming 6th-8th Grade Youth. High School Youth can volunteer during the week with the younger students.

Friday, August 9th - Sunday, August 11th:

September TBA: Prayer & Pizza. Join us for 4:00 PM Mass, we will have plenty of pews reserved. After Mass enjoy pizza and fellowship. The evening will conclude at 6:30 PM.

October TBA: Mystery Mansion

December TBA: Youth Ministry Jungle Jam Christmas Party.
